I woke up early Sat AM and thought there is no way we are going to get a fishing trip in with the squall lines coming with tornado force winds and hail predictions! I got down to Dularge around 5:45 AM and the wind was an easy 20 mph out of the South. Watching the radar it looked like we might be able to fish until 11 or so before it all broke loose. We went down to our clients from Jackson Ms in for a bachelor party and they said they drove down and they were willing to try it. By the time we got on the water there was not a breath of wind blowing and we started praying for some due to the gnats were out. The morning started out very slow for me with only two keeper trout at 9:15. The tide was very high and absolute slack. Once the tide switched around to falling, the fish started biting and a bad day quickly turned to a good day. Around 11 am a small storm blew threw and we found some cover until about 12:30 when the weather cleared again and we fished a little longer. While none of the four charter boats limited out, we were all over the two man limit of 50 and had some very happy Mississippian's! These were three of the boats pile of fish.

Not in La Dean. Like the Cheeto commercial: they will make more! I was told by a charter guide that fished one day last week when the winds were calm that they were jumping out of the water and the birds were chasing as far as he could see in one of our local lakes. This lake is easily 6 mi x 10 mi wide. It looks like they had an awesome hatch and will be a great summer. Quit being a mad, little bald man!
