My dad and I made a trip to Bonham today. Managed to get 36 keepers between the two of us. Biggest fish was 1.7 lbs. We were pretty happy considering it was a pretty cold day. Here's a picture taken just before the filet knives went to work.

I see my rod is longer than yours.

There's 36 there. It's just hard to count them the way they are arranged. Live fish aren't good about posing for pictures when your not holding them.

Mike, we actually caught the fish in open water down by the dam. Never even tried the brush yesterday.

Dang, those are some nice slabs!

Congratulations on a very successful crappy trip.

It's been so many years since I fished for crappy I could literally cry. Don't laugh but I think it was Toledo Bend (back when tree top cover still existed). I believe sometime during the 70s?

Man I need to get my act together. That salt tears up good fishing gear anyway.

I know of some crappie spots on Texoma but they are located in or near boathouses. If the action slows maybe we could ease over and jig for a few.

It takes grand skill to hook a fish in the mouth that is smaller than your bait... :-)

These on the other hand were like taking candy from a baby...

11.36 lbs

9.75 lbs

Then there is the 8.4 pounder

Or the 7.5 lb pond bass

Maybe one of these 6.7 & 6.5 pounders

There are more pics at Photo Page

I am impressed o great professor of bass fishing. You are now officially my hero. I have yet to get one over 10 lbs. Maybe this year will be my turn.
If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related.

That first one would make an excellent shark bait! Think you can freeze a couple for me next time you fetch em up like that? I can run the hook right out of his anus with the hook shank run up through his mouth. Might be enough room between them lips to drop afew shots of chain and tie wrap it down good and tight just so the bait holds the bottom better?

Heck of a bunch of bucket mouths Mike! I bet you wore out a couple dozen reels casting at em to get that collection?

Actially, the oldest picture up there is the 11 pounder and it was April 2000. The 9.7 & 8.4 were from spring 2001. The 7.5 & 6.5 were spring 03' and the 6.7 is from last year. Seems like I was on a downward trend until last year. I need to push it up a couple notches this year... :-) Wes and I use to take a lot of pictures of fish when we would go and I have literally drawers full of bass, crappie, sandies, & catfish pictures. I still fish with the rod&reel that caught most of those fish except for the 6.5 pounder which Bigun took that picture (I broke the tip eye unsnagging a red trap on a log) And, all but the 7.5 & 6.5 came on a 1/16 oz splitshot rigged soft plastic fished with the same rod&reel setup.

BTW: My biggest shark was about 5' long and dad said it was a sand shark. Caught it offshore one day while fishing for kings when I was much younger.

For fun, here are some links to those years of fishing with Wes and I:

2002 Fishing Challenge -- Wes' Revenge

Great memories......
